Setup of warehouse locations

The creation of locations represents the spaces within a warehouse where inventory will be placed.

This article includes the following sections:

Create a location in a warehouse

Essential criteria:

• The user must have access to the warehouse where the location will be created.
• Its name must be unique within the warehouse.
• The user must have the "Edit Warehouses" permission enabled.

There are two ways to create a location. The first is:

1. From the system setup, navigate to the Warehouses menu.
2. Search for the warehouse you want to manage.
3. In the Add location column, click the button.

The second method is:

1. From the system setup, navigate to the Warehouses menu.
2. Search for the warehouse you want to manage.
3. In the View locations column of the Warehouses list, click the button.
4. Click the Add button .

Both methods will direct you to the same screen where you must:

1. Enter the name of the new location.
2. Mark the location as Enabled.
3. Click Create location. This will return you to the warehouse’s main screen with a confirmation that the location was created.

Edit a location

Essential criteria:

• The user must have access to the warehouse.
• The user must have the "Edit Warehouses" permission enabled.
• The name must be unique within the warehouse.

Steps to follow:

1. From the system setup, navigate to the Warehouses menu.
2. Search for the warehouse you want to manage.
3. In the View locations column of the Warehouses list, click the button.
4. Search for the location you want to edit.
5. In the Edit column, click the button.
6. Update the necessary information.
7. Click  to save changes.

Disable a location

A location is disabled when it has had inventory movements and will no longer be needed by your team.

Essential criteria:

• The user must have access to the warehouse.
• The user must have the "Edit Warehouses" permission enabled.

Steps to follow:

1. Search for the location you want to disable.
2. In the Edit column, click the button.
3. Uncheck the Enabled checkbox.  
   
4. Click Save location.

Re-enable a location

If a previously disabled location needs to be managed again, you can re-enable it instead of creating a new one.

Essential criteria:

• The user must have access to the warehouse.
• The user must have the "Edit Warehouses" permission enabled.

Steps to follow:

1. Search for the location you want to re-enable.
2. In the Edit column, click the button.
3. Check the Enabled checkbox. 
   
4. Click Save location.

Remove a location

Essential criteria:

• The user must have access to all warehouses registered in the system.
• The user must have the "Remove Warehouses" permission enabled.
• The location must have no inventory movement history.
  • If it has inventory movements, you can disable it instead.

Steps to follow:

1. Search for the location you want to remove.
2. In the Delete column, click the button. This will open a dialog.
3. Click the Delete button.
