To enable a list-type custom field, you must first create a custom list. These lists allow your collaborators to select a value from several options that have been predefined by a super administrator.

Create a custom list
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the permission to create customizable lists enabled.
Steps to create a custom list:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom lists menu.
- Click the New list button.
- Enter the name for the custom list.
- Optional: You can also add notes if necessary.
- Click the Create button. This will display the Items section on the right side of the screen and show the following message.
- To add items to the list you just generated, follow the steps in the next section.
Edit a custom list
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the permission to edit customizable lists enabled.
Steps to edit a custom list:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom lists menu.
- Find the custom list you want to edit.
- In the second column, click the
button.
- Modify the necessary information:
- Enter the new name for the list or for the items you want to edit.
- If you want to add a new item to the list, follow these steps:
- In the Items section, click the Add new item button.
- Enter the name of the new custom list item.
- Repeat the previous steps for each new item you want to add to the list.
- In the Items section, click the Add new item button.
- If you want to delete an item from the list, follow these steps:
- In the Items section, find the item you want to delete.
- Click the
button. Repeat this step for each item you want to delete.
- Click the Save button, which will display the following message.

Note: If one of the custom list items has been assigned in any section of the system, it cannot be deleted, and you will get a message like the following.
Delete a custom list
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the permission to delete customizable lists enabled.
Steps to delete a custom list:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom lists menu.
- Find the custom list you want to delete.
- In the first column, click the
button. This will show you the following dialog.
- Click Delete. This will show you the system's confirmation message.
- If the custom list has been used in any list-type custom field, it cannot be deleted, and the following message will be displayed.
