Below we provide a guide on how to manage each of the advanced field types available in the system.

Enable a custom field
Depending on the particular type of field you wish to enable, the settings to consider when enabling them may vary. For this reason, you can consult the following sections that cover how to enable each field type:
- Enable a custom text field
- Enable a custom notes field
- Enable a custom numeric field
- Enable a custom date/time field
- Enable a custom list-type field
Enable a custom text field
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the Custom fields edit permission enabled.
- The maximum number of characters allowed for this field is 255.
Taking the following example into consideration, where the goal is to add a customs declaration (pedimento) to a receipt order header, you can follow the steps shown below to enable it as a text field:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom fields menu.
- Select the module where you want to enable the new custom field, in this case, it will be the Receive orders - Header module.
- After selecting the module, click the String fields tab
- Enter the Name with which the field will be identified, in this case, it will be Customs declaration.
- Check the Enabled box so that the field is visible in the system.
- Optional: Check the Mandatory box if you want this field to always require information.
- Optional: Enter a Description for informational purposes regarding the field's configuration.
- Indicate the text length, which will be the number of characters the user is allowed to type in the field.
- After the previous steps, the field can be configured as follows.
- Click Save. This will enable the new field in the module you selected in step 3, which is the receipt orders header.
Enable a custom notes field
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the Custom fields edit permission enabled.
- The maximum number of characters allowed for this field is 65,000.
Steps to enable a custom notes field:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom fields menu.
- Select the module where you want to enable the new custom field.
- After selecting the module, click the Notes fields tab.
- Enter the Name with which the field will be identified.
- Check the Enabled box so that the field is visible in the system.
- Optional: Check the Mandatory box if you want this field to always require information.
- Optional: Enter a Description for informational purposes regarding the field's configuration.
- After the previous steps, the field can be configured as follows.
- Click Save. This will enable the new field in the module you selected in step 3.
Enable a custom numeric field
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the Custom fields edit permission enabled.
- This field only allows integers or decimals with a precision of up to 4 decimal places.
Steps to enable a numeric field:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom fields menu.
- Select the module where you want to enable the new custom field.
- After selecting the module, click the Numeric fields tab.
- Enter the Name that the new numeric field will have.
- Check the Enabled box so that the field is visible in the system.
- Optional: Check the Mandatory box if you want this field to always require information.
- Optional: Enter a Description for informational purposes regarding the field's configuration.
- Optional: Check the Allow decimals box.
- Optional: Check the Allow negative box.
- Optional: Check the Allow zero box.
- Optional: Enter the Minimum value that the system will accept in this field.
- Optional: Enter the Maximum value that the system will accept in this field.
- After the previous steps, the field can be configured as follows.
- Click Save. This will enable the new field in the module you selected in step 3.
Using the image above as a reference, the system will require the user to always enter a number between 0.5 and 5.
Enable a custom date/time field
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the Custom fields edit permission enabled.
- This field allows selecting a date from a calendar, and optionally, the time.
Steps to enable a date/time field:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom fields menu.
- Select the module where you want to enable the new custom field.
- After selecting the module, click the Date/time fields tab.
- Enter the Name for the new field.
- Check the Enabled box so that the field is visible in the system.
- Optional: Check the Mandatory box if you want this field to always require information.
- Optional: Enter a Description for informational purposes regarding the field's configuration.
- Optional: Check the Allow past dates box; this will allow selecting days before the current date.
- Optional: Check the Allow future dates box; this will allow selecting days after the current date.
- Optional: Check the Enable time box; this will allow specifying a time in addition to the date.
- After the previous steps, the field can be configured as follows.
- Click Save, this will enable the new field in the module you selected in step 3.
Enable a custom list-type field
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the Custom fields edit permission enabled.
- This field only allows the user to choose an option from a previously configured custom list.
Steps to enable a list-type field:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom fields menu.
- Select the module where you want to enable the new custom field.
- After selecting the module, click the List type fields tab.
- Enter the Name for the new list-type field.
- Check the Enabled box so that the field is visible in the system.
- Optional: Check the Mandatory box, if you want this field to always require information.
- Optional: Enter a Description for informational purposes regarding the field's configuration.
- In List, search for and select the custom list you want to use in this field. (Related article: Custom List Management).
- In Default value, select the value that will be automatically chosen when first accessing the screen where information will be entered in that field.
- After the previous steps, the field can be configured as follows.
- Click Save, this will enable the new field in the module you selected in step 3.
Disable a custom field
Essential criteria:
- The user must have the Custom fields edit permission enabled.
When you no longer need a custom field in the system, it can be disabled. However, you must consider that upon disabling it, you will not be able to consult the information that was previously entered in the field before its deactivation.
Steps to disable a custom field:
- From the main menu, go to the Setup.
- Go to the Customization menu and then to the Custom fields menu.
- Select the module where the field to be disabled is located.
- After selecting the module, click the corresponding tab depending on the type of custom field that will be disabled.
- Find the field you want to disable.
- Uncheck the Enabled box.
- Click Save, this will hide the custom field in the module where it was located.
